It all starts with your question:

"There’s this corner in our home and we have no idea what to do with it, can you help?"

"This area in our home is always such a mess and I’m not sure what we need exactly..?"

"We have an empty wall and would like some shelving but we’re not sure what would look good, do you have any ideas?"

The answer to these questions (and the question that is burning in your mind) is YES, I can and would love to help out. To give you an idea of my design and production process, let’s go through it step by step.

The process begins with an initial consultation between you and me. Usually I like to swing by so I can take a look at your home and get a sense of your style. During this visit we discuss your vision, needs, and preferences for the custom piece. This includes considerations such as size, style, materials, and any specific features or functionalities required. If you don’t have a vision, that is perfectly fine, I can help you out with that.

Based on this information, I will start developing concepts for the custom piece. In a first proposal I will share written concepts with sketches or miniatures to clarify ideas with you. I usually add moodboards to give you a feeling for the style I have in mind. Depending on the type of design I might go a little further in order to bring across a concept or design. After reviewing the first concepts, I love to hear your thoughts so I can refine the design until it meets your expectations.

In the process of finalizing the design we also talk about materials and colors. I can show samples and we can try different color combinations to achieve the perfect look for your piece. With materials and colors chosen, I can share a quote for the production of the piece. This is always a process we work on together. Meaning: if you have a price in mind or a budget that you don’t want to exceed. It is important for me to know so I can design and source materials that fit your budget.

With the design and materials determined and the budget approved, I create detailed drawings for the piece so I can plan the production. These plans outline precise dimensions, joinery techniques, and construction methods to ensure structural integrity and functionality. I pay attention to every detail to guarantee a flawless execution of the design.

Once plans are finalized, the fabrication of the custom furniture begins. Using a variety of techniques I will transform raw materials into your custom piece. Once assembly is finished, finishing touches are applied such as painting, staining or oiling. At this stage we plan a date for the installation.

Once your piece is complete, I will install it in your home. Together we check the piece once it is installed for quality assurance. If any questions or concerns come up then I will address them to make sure we all have a positive experience. I always love to take some pictures of a finished piece but will of course discuss this with you before doing so.

This process ensures that your furniture piece is a true reflection of your style and requirements, resulting in a one-of-a-kind creation that brings beauty and functionality to your space.
